Not a change we land Gasol. The cap numbers simply won't work. We would have to give up too much of our roster, let alone something valuable to LA.
The only option is Bargnani + a wing player for a big man. The problem with that is there are not many options out there, and why would a team trade away their big man for another one, who has just come off an injury, and we don't want for obvious reasons?
Guys like Milsap don't make much sense for the Raptors. We trade for him for 40 games and he walks and we have a giant hole. I'm pretty sure there is no way we can re-sign with our cap situation. That also rules out players like Josh Smith.
Please, do not get your expectations too high guys.
Bargnani/Fields/Gray for Gasol
Salaaies match. We are crowded on the wing, so we unload Fields. Fields may do well in Mike D's system as he did in NY. Bargs gives the Lakers a stretch 4 that complements Dwight.
I think Gasol can play better if utilized better, remember he was doing pretty good during the summer. Although his knees are a cause for concern.
Gasol is washed up and depressed, going from a championship(current contender) to our team will only make it worse. His best days are behind him while Bargnani will always be the softest big man in the league. Colangelo will not trade Bargnani right now because there is no equivalent talent at the power forward position right now and now that Ed davis is gone, we would need a PF in return. Our team is solid right now, but nothing special. They should tank next year and get Andrew Wiggins or else we will just be in the middle of the pack for all time. Omniscient
