Raptors' Casey fined $25K for criticizing ref

NEW YORK -- Toronto Raptors head coach Dwane Casey has been fined $25,000 for public criticism of officiating, it was announced today by Stu Jackson, NBA Executive Vice President Basketball Operations.
Casey made his comments in the postgame press conference following the Raptors' 93-92 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Jan. 30 at Philips Arena.

Thats sucks.

In one of BC's interviews today he said the front office encourages them to call out the refs and hinted that they will pay the fine.

For Casey's sake, I hope this is true.

You should get fined for criticizing the refs, for example saying they were horrible. It's insane that he gets fined for stating facts though. Facts backed up by apology releases.

great to see the coach stand up for these young guys. if it was one or two times whatever we can deal, but to lose 4 close games like this could be the difference of making the playoffs or not.

I beleive the league will issue an apology again, but it will be followed by a memo to the refs this time. i hope so any ways.
