With todays trade, the Pistons have said good bye to the final link to the single most stifling defensive unit Ive ever seen. Tay's rep as a stopper is well known, but it almost didn't happen. It took a 3-1 deficit to an 8th seed for Carlisle to realize what a weapon he had and unleash it he did. Tmac, Iverson, Kobe, the list of star scorers to be noticeably effected by Tay's length.
#1 - Breakout vs Orlando Magic (2003)
With Tmac easily shooting over the top of Michael Curry and blowing by the likes of Uncle Cliffy, to the tune of 40PPG and a 3-1 lead, then Coach Rick Carlisle was running out of options. After season long criticism, Carlisle got the brilliant idea to counter length with even more length, finally deciding to give his 6"9 pterodactyl a crack at the phenom. The move paid immediate dividends. The Pistons recovered from their deficit and while Tmac still averaged 25Pts, he shot 36% in doing so. It wasn't all Tayshaun, the Pistons as a group were actually recovering from minor injuries, Ben Wallace for one got more mobile as the series went on, but this was the series that let people know Tay's potential as a defender.

Reggie Miller -- Nuff said
#3 - Finals vs Kobe
Holding Kobe to the worst showing of his career while your team wins the chip is a pretty big deal. Again, the help defense was superb, but Kobe called him the longest guy hes ever faced.
