Years of drafting mediocre RP and trading away depth brings us here.

When people here keep saying "Go get Upton, go get Stanton, etc", this is why it is not so easy. EVERY team has a better farm wth quality and depth than we do.

I wish we had good farm system like the Seattle Mariners, Pittsburgh Pirates, San Diego Padres, Minnesota Twins, Miami Marlins, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs....a good farm system has gotten them pretty far...

With the win mode the team is in it won't affect them now, it's down the road where it becomes more of an issue.

Yep, but also down the line when we're no longer contenders we'll trade away our aging stars to teams looking for that final piece and pick up their prospects.

The Tigers haven't won a ws since 1984, so apparently having no system gets you no further than Boston, Miami, and Minnesota

This system is only ranked so low due to the majority of our better prospects are at the "A" level and not AA level or above. In terms of talent, we really are in the 18-20 range. In a couple years (barring any trades), we will be in the 10-15 range.

True, but we have become like the N.Y. Yankees of George Steinbrenner while they are becoming like the Tigers of old.

Sure we don't have a great farm system and have farm system holes (e.g., 2B and sS) but we have traded away a lot to get Fister, Infante, Sanchez, etc. Add Iltich's money (e.g., Prince) and we are getting it done!

In the OF, we have two high ceiling kids, Garcia and Nick C, and maybe no room for both or even one.

Our system is bad...but so is Sickels. He ranked Wilk as our 10th best prospect, very poor research.
