I'll definitely take it, too. I hope RM can somehow trade down and get a 2nd or 3rd round pick while he's at it.

That is more than I thought we were going to get. As deep as the draft is in DL and OL those picks will come in handy.

That's what I was thinking. I'm sure there will still be some DL/OL players with a lot of upside in those rounds.

I think so Bigs. Even if they are average NFL players, that is good for depth and special teams. According to the research the chances of finding someone that can contribute or at the very least be groomed for 2014 are very good.

I thought we'd do better. But, picks are picks! They're going to need them.

Reggie will find a starter in the 6th if we get those...

I'd bet a WR, or DB

    Ok so don't laugh...

Are compensatory picks added to the draft or what?

Or is it like a separate draft?

Also since this article is just speculation when will we know what the real picks are?

They are added to the draft as compensation, hence the word compensatory.

Compensatory free agents are determined by a formula based on salary, playing time and postseason honors. The formula was developed by the NFL Management Council. Not every free agent lost or signed by a club is covered by this formula.

Three clubs this year (Oakland, Seattle and New Orleans) will each receive a compensatory pick even though they did not suffer a net loss of compensatory free agents last year. Under the formula, the compensatory free agents lost by these clubs were ranked higher than the ones they signed (by a specified point differential based upon salary and performance).

I know what compensation means lol I thought the order of the draft was already figured out through round 7.

Still, when will we find out what they are?

They'll announce the compensatory picks at the league meetings a few weeks before the draft. They get inserted between rounds starting after the third.

They are added to the end of the round. For example, Bergstrom was a compensatory pick. So after the third round was over, we got a pick before the 4th. So these would literally be sandwiched between the las pick of the 6th round and 1st pick of the 7th. Make sense?
