    According to the article, the incident occured in Menlo Park. You and I both know that is only a 20-30 minute drive from downtown SF. Now I realize for most East Coasters a 20-30 minute drive can put you in another state. But here in Cali, that is "local" by our standards. Hell, Menlo Park is just a stone's throw from where the Niners will be building their new sports facility in Santa Clara. Seriously, don't be afraid to claim your area.     It's not a matter of "hiding." It's a matter of it being an issue at all.

    There are plenty of people who are vocal. But asking everyone to be (or alluding to) is silly. There's a certain level of privacy I'd want if I were gay (and there's a certain level of privacy I want as a straight man). I'd imagine that to some people trumps activism.

    Whats kinda sad about the story is it is a huge black eye for the gay community. Hurts the chances of current or more former players coming out if this is the example set forth.
