He's a major league CFer with some power. At worst he's a 4th OFer with plus defense. I value that over very young players being projected as relievers. A year from now, if all goes well, my view of DeGrom may be flipped.

For now, I'm going for the guy who's going to have real value as a plus defender at a premium position.

Never say, "at worst."

At worst, den Dekker is AAAA material because he fails to make enough contact to stick on a big league roster(ie. Jason Pridie)

Fair enough YS, but I think he's very likely to be a serviceable major league OFer with plus defense and some pop in his bat. He still has a chance to prove he can be more.
