I gave it up for New Years and every now and then I have a really bad craving and almost give in...but I just chug a bottle of water instead and that seams to help the cravings. Haven't broken it yet so we'll see.

Pretty much only drink water and watered-down Gatorade. Drink soda with my booze but thats about it, even then I'll usually mix with club soda if possible.
I feel like I have to drink pop with a burger or pizza
I happen to be drinking one right now, but it's the first time I've had one in a few weeks.
I decided to cut soda out of my diet a few years ago, and it really wasn't difficult. I couldn't go back to drinking soda on the reg even if I wanted to...I can barely finish a can these days without it giving me a stomach ache.
I drink mostly water now, although I do still have a weakness for iced tea. I try to avoid anything that doesn't use real sugar, at least.
I used to drink basically a coke a day, and when I stopped I lost 10 pounds in 2 months without any other lifestyle changes. Water all day.

When I was in 7th grade I would drink 7 cans of pepsi a day.
I dont know how I'm not dead from diabetic shock.
If I drink soda now I shell out for the good stuff with real sugar. Nothing like a quality cream coda made with real vanilla
The best way is to never deprive yourself of anything you are trying to quit. Although it sounds stupid because you are "quitting," cutting back works like a charm. As people have suggested, just drink water when you have a craving for it. When you go out and pretty much get the cravings for it, drink a can or simply share it with someone else. Just remember though, those tall glasses are usually 2 cups fluid. So, just drink half of that and get water as well. Next thing you know, it will be months since the last time you had a sip of soda. I know you've heard this millions of times, but moderation is the key.
that makes sense. I eat something like chicken breast with some steamed veggies and I prefer it with water or a glass of milk. but if its junk food, i feel like i need pop.
might also be a little psychological based on association of pizza parties and stuff with pop growing up, while my mom never let me drink pop at home, so dinner time growing up was water or juice
Man, I'm getting a huge craving for soda just reading this thread. Lol.
I think if you exercise regularly it shouldn't be a problem. It's mostly fatasses who never work out that get super premature diabetes from drinking too much soda.
I agree with your first part for the most part, but there are exceptions. Im able to go cold turkey on the food that ive given up, including drinking caffeine.
Also, moderation is definitely key. But to me, moderation isnt actually moderation for most people. And i dont think its even close. I think people use the term moderation more for a cop out that the truth.
Haven't had a soda since monday morning.
But I have had several gatorades and a red bull once.
I didnt realize the majority of people keep track of the amount of soda they drink. Honestly I prefer juice/water, but if im eating a meal I prefer any kind of soda really. And I have never had problems with soda when it involves my health, though I am pretty active (Soccer, Football, Basketball). I literally feel no different when I drink water than when I do soda, I honestly dont think of it. But this thread has inspired me to not drink it for a little just to see what its like.![]()
