Source: Jim Buss Was Concerned About Jackson Making Nash Expendable

Jim Buss decided for the Los Angeles Lakers to hire Mike D'Antoni instead of Phil Jackson largely out of a concern that the triangle offense would have pushed Steve Nash out, according to sources.

Buss thought hiring D'Antoni would trigger the Lakers' offense by reuniting him with Nash.

"The way this turns out," one league source connected to the hiring process said, "you've chosen not only Steve Nash over [Pau] Gasol, but maybe over Gasol and Dwight [Howard]."

If the Lakers had hired Jackson, the offense would be running through Gasol, Dwight Howard and Kobe Bryant in the post.

    http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--fo...094336411.html
Kobe is Kobe, you will get him to ball as long as his hands and knee allow no matter the system (i think that was the buss thinking) especially when he can get his own shot off the dribble, which is the biggest contrast to Nash being back and him being out. Nash has slowed the clock and gets burned on D worse than Morris or Blake. And Kobe was able to actually give himself the ball on the block by dribbling there while Nash misses the feeds (Shaqs complaint in there time together, even jabbed at him that Kobe fed him the ball better)

But yeah it was a dumb decision because of Melo. Dantoni didn't want Melo, one of the best post up Fs in the league posting the ball, and tried to force him a square peg, while Woodson is too smart.

Phil would have made Nash what he should be, Steve Kerr or Derek Fisher to the tenth power. H would have used is sharp shooting and hid him defensively as a funneler. Having Nash use his shot and not try to be pnr guy like now with a team of post players would lead to better floor balance. That floor balance leads to les run outs and less long rebounds. It also maximized Kobe, Pau, Dwight, and MWP on O and better on D. They would be less exploited covering for Nash or Pau by the way Phil would have them funny and tilt the floor in a quasi zone behind a man defender like Kobe or Metta

So yeah it's a shame they chose Nash, a pg who has never gotten out the conference with all stars who fit him and a system that maximized and catered to him. It really is when you look at how he struggle with one post guy in Shaq. The past is there for a reference. The reference is Nash can't feed a post player right, the team LA constructed ideally would start 4 of them, Dantoni struggled to incorporate both Melo and Shaq to he quit both times because posting them broke his O, and did I mention Nash and Dantoni ain't never won their conference let a ring

It was a silly dick measuring contest with Phil, and like in 04, Phil has whipped his out and smacked Jerry and Jim across the face like their name is Jeanie to prove once again he's the better man and basketball mind. They just need to chuck that **** up and apologize. They let bs go over winning and need to be checked because they are losing and looking baboons because they didnt respect Phil or his style, and its karma ***** slapping them for Shaw, for DFish, for Lamar, for Phil, for Lester, and for all the assistant coaches they link slipped before the last playoff run started.

Nash wouldn't be maximized, but he would be a better fit by maximizing the others on both sides the ball, maximizing a pace, maximizing floor spacing, maximizing rebounding position, maximizing rotations, and maximizing a funneling/tilting D all of which Phil is known for and won. 11 rings and went to 13 finals by doing in the nba

That seems like a logical reason but he might of forgot this is Kobe's team. Run the triangle offence off Kobe. And Nash isn't a aggressive offensive player; the triangle would of been the best fit.

Reading this article made me say "no ****".

Not like our front office is gonna do anything about it. Mitch says D'antoni isn't the source of the problems. D'antoni says the players have to play better defense and the offense isn't the problem. This, coming from a ******* that spends 15 minutes of practice on defense, and after a loss, instead of practicing defensive schemes, calls practice off.

    **** this ****.

Is it mda's fault or Jim's? It ultimately falls on Jim. I think we all knew what we would get with mda.

With Steve Nash thier record is 5-13 and 12 - 12 without him. Low and behold, that is exactly the amount of games under 500 we are

Largely due to the fact Kobe dictated the offense without him which managed possessions, and Morris while stupid and Duhon while not impressive defend better

Jimbo will never admit he made a mistake, and that is going to be his biggest mistake. He is a spoiled rich kid that got the keys to the Ferrari that he never learned how to drive. His Ferrari is now wrapped around a tree and his insurance agent sure as hell can't help him figure out what to do. This moron has no business controlling the family business. The Buss family should just face the facts, they efed up. maybe it's time to sell the team, take all the profit and then sonny boy can pay his inheritance taxes.
