    Is Alienware worth it?

I'm considering buying a gaming desktop PC, but the only brand that I can think of is Alienware My question to you guys is it worth it if not, Is there any other cheaper options out there, but with the same performance? I know Alienware is really expensive. to be honest that is the only brand I know when it comes to gaming desktops.

Build your own. Think someone here build one in the past off Newegg and it was around 600, I think.

I have a M14x labtop. Its pretty good, but one thing I hate is the build quality. My disc drive and one of the hinges that hold up the screen broke this year causing me $300. After they were acquired by Dell, they use cheaper plastic.

Alienware laptop may be worth it but I doubt the tower version is... Build your own, it's fun, cheaper, easy to do plus the great feeling of knowing you built it

    Alienware is an overpriced dell.

    So no, it isn't

There is no such thing as a "gaming" computer thats simply marketing.

Look at the specs? Goes it have a good GPU? Thats essential in a PC you want to play games on. At the least aim for a i5 2500k(cpu), GTX 560ti(gpu), and 4GB RAM.

I highly suggest self-built as then you're free to upgrade at your whim.

nah....they build great gaming laptops but that still doesnt mean that you should use them for a desktop purchase. If the OP can, go ahead and DIY and build your own.

For a fancy Dell? Nope. Build your own and get to know a little more about the hardware side of your system. It will be rewarding well beyond the savings you achieve.

No. My old roommate had an Alienware laptop. It took a big **** on him after a year or two. Don't get me wrong, you'll get a great machine. However, it will be at a premium price.
