    Assistant GM? or Assistant to the GM? or Regional director in charge of general managing?

    Regional director in charge of managing is defintely the more prestigious title, because it has director in the name. Director is the highest rank of a film set. Do you know anything about films?

    This job title sounds very similar to that of Dwight K. Shrute from 'The Office'

    I can't imagine this mattering at all. This is just the sox trying to grab some positive publicity after the bashing they've been taking over Francona's book.

    The theory is they are trying to grab more players from the DR. He is a god there.

    Vote for Pedro!

    It has nothing to do with the book, this has been known unofficially since October. He's not going to impact the major league roster, but he's great to have in Spring Training as a mentor to younger pitchers. Plus, like jbay said, internationally where everyone has similar, tiny budgets, who is going to say no to the Red Sox if Pedro Martinez knocks on their door?

    Also love this quote

    @brianmacp
    Pedro on young pitchers: "I'm not going to force them to be like me. It's impossible to be like me."

    Let's hope this pays off.

    Side note, the general consensus I've seen on this board is that Rubby De La Rosa will likely end up as a power arm out of the bullpen, we may want to start leaning towards starting pitcher now with Pedro around to mentor him and refine that circle change.

    This was being discussed long before Francon's book was on the radar.

    The Sox also weren't the only ones interested in Pedro's services. Apparently the Sox were the only team he'd consider though.
