Jim Powell (Braves radio play-by-play guy) comments from a while ago, likely spoke to the man himself:

    Fredi lineup: 1-Simmons, 2-JHey, 3-JUp, 4-Mac or FF, 5-BJUp, 6-Mac or FF, 7-Uggs, 8-JFran or CJnsn

Teheran and Gilmartin will compete for 5th starter. Gattis will still have opportunity to help.

"I feel with the extra push from each other,'' Justin Upton said, "there's no question we can be the best outfield in baseball. But I'm not going to give us that label until we prove it."
That's the kind of talk we want to hear/read.

The man was born to hit. I'm confident he wouldn't come back to embarrass himself at the plate.

It makes me laugh when I see posts in open MLB forum that we still won't be any where near close with the Nationals this upcoming season...really?

    All on rotation.

    Strastburg
    Gio
    Zimmerman
    Dan Haren
    Detwiler

    Meds
    Huddy
    Minor
    Maholm
    JT
    Beachy (eventually)

At the very least the nats have 3 bonifide starters/aces.

We have to bank on Meds to translate well from last season, Huddy to keep his reliability (with a year older), growth of Minor, Maholm to keep his consistency, and JT to be effective.

Not to mention the Nats hit well off Huddy, Minor, and Maholm.

If our starters don't match the Nats starters...we're in for a tough ride.

Great point Walker was their top prospect and on of the top prospects in the League, Pryor and Franklin were in their top 8, and Franklin was their number 3 and one of the top 100 prospects overall. Mariners probably happy they didnt overpay so badly.

Same that is said about Huddy can be said about Haren (he wasn't good last year), same about Minor and Detwiler and Zimmerman. i don't expect Jordan Zimmerman to be as effective as last year.

Strasburg has to remain healthy and Gonzalez will have a tough time matching last year even though he's really good. Point being, they have a stronger rotation, but they still have a lot of questions. Our strengths are different and it should make for an exciting run.

They barely won the division last year, when we had a worse outfield and career low seasons from BMac and Uggla. Despite losing CHipper, this years braves team is far superior to last years.

Our starters didn't really match the Nats' five all season though (especially when JJ and Hanson were struggling), yet the team itself was still within reasonable striking distance. Those guys have to stay healthy though. People have made a big deal out of BJ's defense, but I'm pretty confident that will improve because we've seen a few guys who weren't known for their glove work (Mac, Uggla, Prado, etc) get better in recent years so it's gotta be the coaching/organizational emphasis.

What held us back was our offense -- hitting for power and leaving runners on base. That's why Mac and Uggla are so important, to lengthen the lineup. We all know those two have more to offer than we saw last season, and with less pressure on them now, could stand to benefit. After the end of last season, Wren gave an AJC interview where said he wanted to "get younger and more athletic" and well that's what he did. One concern is Mac's impending free agency and how he'll handle that, but he's been a pro's pro, so it's probably more about him rehabbing and staying healthy.

Ehh.... Not my favorite line-up, but I could see us starting the season with it.

Yeah, I probably would also and tinker with it every so often to find the right fit.
