I don't get it, people complain that the Mets won't sign anyone, and when they do sign someone of quality, people still complain? Wow.

My only complaint is how long..

I like Marcum and he is certainly a quality pitcher we can either trade at the deadline for specs or more hopefully re-sign.

There is not much upside either results wise..

If this team is a 68 win team without him they are a 71 win team with him.

That's why i wanted more than 1 year.

Why? Hopefully by next off season we will be in the market for high quality arm to go with Niese, Harvey, Wheeler & Gee. Marcum on a 1 year deal makes complete sense.

I'm not interested in talking about 68 wins to 71 wins, to me that stuff is nonsense. We don't need him for more than 1 year, and we could bring him back if we needed too.

My team just got better TODAY, baseball starts in less than 3 months. Worrying about Shawn Marcum for 2014 means nothing to me.

I have been looking for signs as to why I should buy into what is happening here, this is at least a small sign.

He doesn't on a 1 year deal to me..

That's because i don't value 2 or 3 more wins on team that's almost guaranteed 4th place this year.

If they had given 2 years he could have been part of a potential playoff team in 2014 depending on who they acquired next offseason.

Nyjer Morgan has gone to Japan by the way, you were talking about him IIRC.

The thing is a guy like Marcum can also be dealt if the Mets are that bad this year and they could add more prospects.
ALL OF THIS is SO ON POINT (PARDON THE CAPS)

That was an example in regards to possibly replacing Hairston if they were looking for a veteran.

Marcum is a better player than Hairston without question and that's why i wish they could have got him for longer.

Lol dude you're as "Fair and Balanced" as Fox News. But yes, at least here you're nothing but objective. My personal thanks.

Better than Young, much better than Hefner. Gives us more trade bait other than Santana once Wheeler is ready.

    Good signing.

I had this guy on my fantasy team a couple years ago and he was a beast!! Great signing.
