This is a perfect signing IMO, if he pitches well we have trade bait at the deadline. If he gets hurt, it opens up a rotation spot for Wheeler and are done with him at seasons end. Good move

Marcum is a very astute signing. Glad to see some major league guys signed.

They could not continue the way they were, it was nonsense. Now they need to address the OF. Because it's laughable right now.

This guy is a solid #3, a good#4, and a very good #5, even on a good staff. This also helps ensure we don't rush Wheeler. As already stated he also gives us a viable piece of trade bait, further if he really takes to Citi Field and it's vast dimensions(remember this guy has pitched in excellent hitters parks), and becomes a bit of a monster, we get first dibs on signing him to a long term 3 or 4 year to be solid bottom to anchor our young rotation and add some experience for those guys to grow under. Further he will be super motivated this year to get the big contract, so expect his best this year.(and hopefully we get the home team bargain price) All around good move.

Good signing. Still need to sign more arms.

I like this move mainly because when healthy this guy is a top 3 rotation pitcher.

I think he could be apart of the Mets future rotation with Niese, Harvey, Wheeler and Gee. Maybe Syndergaard in a couple of years as well.

And if he gets hurt, that just means guys like Wheeler, Mejia, and Familia can get a(nother) shot to prove themselves.

Exactly, if this was the Mets answer to a terrible rotation, then I would be pissed, but we have some quality and plenty on the way.

I can't see any scenario barring injury in which Wheeler isn't at least a quality starter. The other two are anybodies guess as starters, can't see both making the grade.

JS is not going to make 35 starts, and there's never a scenario in which top prospects get blocked out of a rotation.
