    Curious question

What are the top free agents available in the off season and how much will we have to work with and on down the list? I am not doing this because I think the season is lost but because I expect us to be huge players after missing out on Webber.

What was meant for me will be Mine once again... THE CHAMP OF CHAMPS IS BACK

FYI the flyers hve the least amount of space in the cap in the NHL this year with only 811,000 left to spend accourding to http://www.capgeek.com/payrolls/

With homer at the helm I will never worry about cap space. You can feel a youth movement coming. Some of the bigger contracted older players will be subject to packing their bags or taking pay cuts (which is more than unlikely).

Pronger money is still on there, and Timonen will be RFA, the cap is going down, and a couple players I think are getting raises, so looking at this season's number wont really help. But for next season, Flyers will have about 12 million in space to replace Timonen and get a nice scoring winger in FA

and cap geek looks high right now because theres 26 skaters on it

If only there was going to be a nice scoring winger FA out there. Looking at that list anyone of value I would imagine will be resigned. Outside of the first few the market gets very thin. Any major changes are going to have to come via trade.

I can't imagine the Ducks would let Perry walk. The only way that happens is if it is clear that he doesn't want back in and if that were the case I'd like to believe the managment there is smart enough to deal him for something.

I'm gonna ask for Bobby Ryan at this years trade deadline, and I am gonna ask for Bobby Ryan in the off season, he's the perfect fit for what this team needs. Just wish I knew what it would take to get him.

Just hoping Briere comes back and gives the team so offensive swagger, so this team doesnt have to make drastic adjustments.

I'd love Bobby Ryan too, I am on board that (depending on the deal of course).

That being said I think counting on Danny B to revive this team's offense is a stretch. He needs some swagger restored himself before he going go restoring the teams. Plus with the loss of Hartnell, Briere can only add so much.

yeah i agree to an extent. obviously having briere back will help balance the lineup a bit more, and regardless of how he plays he's still a consistent threat to score.

that being said, as you said, with the loss of hartnell, depending on the severity of the injury, the impact of briere's return won't be as great.

the interesting thing is, what do the lines look like? for saturday's game, how do you roll out the lines?

    simmonds - giroux - voracek

    schenn - briere - read

    fedetenko - couturier - talbot

    wellwood - laughton - sestito/shelley

    OR

    simmonds - giroux - briere

    schenn - couturier - voracek

    talbot - laughton - read

    wellwood - fedetenko - sestito/shelley

personally i'd like to see the second set of lines i listed. the first set IMO is very top heavy. once you hit Couts's line there isn't much offense there. and laughton really has been playing too well to play him on the 4th line. i mean if he's gonna be doing that you might as well just send him back to Oshawa now.

    thoughts??

I'd personally like to see Read get a shot with the top line. Voracek-G-Read would certainly have a speed advantage.

And to Bobby Ryan point, when is he a RFA? As much as I'd love to see the guy in O&B, I've always been under the thought process of why trade for him when Philly should have the leg up to get him once he becomes an UFA.

I think the compliance buy-out will play a major factor in the offseason if this team doesn't start producing. Even though Bryz & Briere's contract is an albatross that I think Holmgren will want to get out from under....

If, and that's a major if, the Flyers falter and do wind up with a top 10 pick....would anyone think parlaying that pick over to ANA for Ryan would be out of the question? Or keep that pick and draft a blue chip defenseman or goaltender?

more likely than not they'd hold onto that pick for a defenseman. besides as much as i love bobby ryan, he's not worth a top 10 pick. he was #2 overall pick once, and he's a great player, but he's not worth a top 10 pick.

That's what I was thinking...Bobby Ryan could be worth a prospect or two and a 2nd round pick possibly...but I do think the Flyers need a guy like Bobby Ryan on this squad....he'd be a great fit on that top line with G and Hartnell....

I'd be very willing to trade for Ryan or Perry if the price tag was a couple picks + 2 prospects. ANA can't keep Perry + Getzlaf + Ryan, so parting with one via trade seems like the most logical thing to do.
