This is the right thing to do

The jets have so many needs and are in such cap trouble that trading revis, particularly with his contract headaches, is such the organization absolutely look into. You are more than one player or one draft away from getting to a superbowl. The defense, without revis, was good enough, not great, but the offense is lacking in talent. Trade revis, use the cap money and picks to rebuild the roster. The jets can be respectable without him next year and will be in position to compete in 2014. I hate doing it now that is trade value is relatively low

You have to explore all the possibilities. Revis is undoubtedly an amazing player but we have tons of needs and who knows if he'll regain his amazingness post-surgery.

I'm sorry. Isn't this what he just hired a GM to worry about?

I find the premise of this story suspect.

I'm only surprised it came out this soon, I thought potential word of this would happen closer toward the draft.

I would love to keep him, just do not think he is worth the contract he is going to want. Since we are in rebuilding mode and he is in his last year, now is a good time to part ways. Would be sad to see him go, but its necessary.

Exactly what I was going to say. Seems like an attention seeking headline. Not going to give it traffic. hate the media.

But yes, I would look into it, but as I have said in a couple of threads it would have to be an awesome package that includes a high pick swapping Holmes for their number 1 (I don't hate Holmes either, just rather not pay that much for him. Although he fits this system) and maybe a swap of backs (McKnight or Powell)

NYJetsfan69 and I have been asking for this seasons ago. Hopefully it's not too late to get a lot for him.

Not only would I trade Revis, but I'd make the team that trades for him take on Sanchez and his salary as a package deal.

That may lower the asking price to only a 1st round pick instead of getting back 2 or 3 picks, but for the Jets it would definitely be worth it.

Money for Landry and another quality FA.

Not going to be a popular move but it might be necessary. I was just saying this the other day. And no body agreed with me.

Me too. Cro's value will never be higher. If Revis is traded, they better get at least 3 picks that are all high draft picks. You don't trade a Hall of Fame caliber player that is arguably going to be the greatest player in your franchise's history for a package that doesn't include a couple of 1st round picks.
