RED WINGS LOSE D WHITE FOR 2-3 WEEKS AFTER LEG SURGERY
The Detroit Red Wings will be without defenceman Ian White for two to three weeks after the blueliner had surgery on Wednesday morning for a leg laceration.
White was hurt on Tuesday during Detroit's game against Dallas when ran into the skate of his goalie, Jimmy Howard, with his left knee in the third period and did not return.
Red Wings general manager Ken Holland announced that the team will not make any call-ups or moves to replace him, as they expect Jakub Kindl (groin) to return Friday from the injured reserve list.
Detroit is off to a 1-2 start and has just five goals in three games so far. The Red Wings are back in action on Friday when they host the Minnesota Wild.
