Yankees LoHud• Chris Dickerson signed a minor league deal with the Orioles. I thought he might have a chance to get a big league deal somewhere, but apparently not. He was released by the Yankees earlier this month. The Orioles already have left-handed hitters Nick Markakis and Nate McLouth in their outfield. They also have lefty Xavier Avery and switch hitter Trayvon Robinson available for their bench.
• Freddy Garcia might have settled on a minor league deal, but he’s getting big league money. Jon Heyman reports that Garcia’s minor league contract pays $1.3 million with another $1.25 million in incentives.
• One of the best catchers still on the market — if not the best catcher still on the market – Kelly Shoppach is reportedly on the verge of a deal with the Mariners.
^^ I don't know why the Yankees didn't sign Shoppach to a one year deal.
Rob Bradford of WEEI.com hears that the Yankees might be close to a deal with free agent designated hitter Travis Hafner.
If signed, Hafner would project as the team's primary designated hitter against right-handed pitching. The 35-year-old batted .228/.346/.438 with 12 home runs and a .784 OPS in 66 games with the Indians last season while battling knee and back injuries.

The White Sox signed right-hander Andrew Brackman, Eddy reports (on Twitter). The former first round pick posted a 6.71 ERA with 6.4 K/9 and 6.0 BB/9 in the Reds' minor league system last year.
