Teams should not be able to foul when up 3...

I'm saying if a team is up 3 in the 4th and the shot clock has been turned off, I think if the team intentionally fouls a player (unless they have a foul to give) then the opposing squad should get 2 FT's and the ball back.

Isn't it kind of unfair to you all?

No. Its Strategy and that has to be a part of the game. If teams think its unfair then be UP instead of down.

let me put it this way. If your team is leading and your team does the fouling= smart. If your team is on the other end then you obviously feel the other way. Either way, it sucks for tv lol

p.s Im so glad you're not a knicks fan, the replies would've been brutal

I guess it sort of depends on how you want the basketball game to pan out. If you want to risk sending the game to overtime and possibly losing, then you should let the opposing team shoot the three point basketball shot. On the other hand, if you want the opposing team to not be able to shoot a three point basketball shot and instead only shoot two free throws and minimize the chance of sending the basketball game to overtime and possibly beating your team, you should intentionally foul the opposing team.

There is risk to it, what if you go for the intentional foul and the other team decides to heave one up! then they get 3 FT attempts.

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner.

Hit the nail on the head right there. Fouling up by 3 is dangerous for that very reason.

I don't see why it's unfair. It's just like any other intentional foul. If you have one left to give in the quarter, you give it while there's very little time left in the clock or after your team has broken down defensively. You foul guys who suck at FT shooting rather than giving them the easy dunk/layup. You foul someone who sucks at FT shooting if you're in a large hole. A lot of times, it works because it's sound strategy but no way is it unfair.

bad idea. because free throw shooting is a huge part of late games and this rule would bail out poor free throw shooters.

Football teams shouldn't be allowed to run the ball on 3rd and inches.
