Varejao has blood clot, out for year.

Anderson Varejao recently developed a blood clot in his lung and is out for the season.

A bad break gets worse for Varejao, who is now officially done for the season, according to the Cavs. Varejao just had surgery for a small split in his right quad, and he is expected to remain at the Cleveland Clinic to be treated and monitored. The good news is that he's expected to make a full recovery. This locks Tristan Thompson and Tyler Zeller in as the starting frontcourt for the remainder of the season. Thompson is averaging 10.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 0.7 blocks as the starting power forward, while Zeller is averaging 10.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks as the starting center.

That sucks, thought he was going to get traded soon.

@ESPNSteinLine: Incredibly sad/unfair: Cavs announce Anderson Varejao developed blood clot in lung after leg surgery that will cost him remainder of season

Via twitter. He was having a great season that's just a huge loss.

CLE should have sold high on him, they could have gotten some very nice pieces for their future for him

Sucks, Wonder if the Cavs knew about it and were trying to trade him before it broke to the media?

Just brutal. With his history with injury, I feel for the guy. Best of luck in his recovery.

    I feel bad for Kyrie.

The Varejao trade would have helped them a lot in the long run.

It's a shame that such a talented player has missed so much time. He is perhaps the best rebounder in the league.

I doubt it. If you know a injury you have to disclose it. Remember OKC knew of greens injury and lost some draft picks and I think got fined.
