The Lakers might have to go 31 - 11 to make...

The 8th seed in the western conference over the past 5yrs has average out record wise 48 wins or better...

The Lakers would have to go 31 - 11 to have a chance to make the playoffs...

Realistically do you think they can?

I think they will, but what do you posters think?

As long as Phil Jackson isn't there, the Lakers aren't going ANYWHERE. Kobe can't play facilitator. He NEEDS the triangle.
Aight, lemme end this with a KO right now:

    Ryne Sandberg: 9282 PA | 4.05 fWAR/600 | 4.2 rWAR/600 PA
    Chase Utley: 5128 PA | 6.32 fWAR/600 PA | 6.26 rWAR/600 PA

Utley has 1/2 as many PAs right now...thats definitely whats hurting his HOF hopes, but he has been clearly more valuable than Sandberg in his career. If he can get another 2000 PA (3 full seasons) of 4.5+ WAR rate, then he >>> Sandbage

Winning 31 of the next 42 is a 74% winning percentage. Not happening.

It's incredible that they might miss the playoffs.

They need to trade Pau immediately. After that, D'Antoni must incorporate a more fluid offense to where it is not solely based on just individual production but rather the team. Kobe must stop taking so many shots, he must get Dwight more involved or else he is useless in Pringles system. The half hearted shot-to-pass from Kobe and Nash to Dwight aren't going to work, I don't know why they keep running it. They call me future GM for a reason.

If they dont, will the "heat bought a championship" talks stop?

    Probably not

The 8th place team is currently on pace to win 43 games which is more manageable. They are also only 3 games behind Houston and Portland so they'll not dead in the water yet. Still, I don't like the Lakers chances at all.

The Lakers are done, they sat on their hands too long. Even if they make a trade at this point it will take too long to get the new pieces incorporated.

Sio Moore and David Bass fishin' for sacks in the Silver and Black

I really don't see it happening. West is too deep. They have to win while the teams above them lose. If all the teams in west continue going at the pace they are on no way.

43games would be a more realistic number for them to reach.
