since this is the last Offseason talking place i want to hear how people grade this offseason? most likely the remaining moves are going to be small and not make a big difference... either 1-10, A-F, i wanna hear em.

Tough to rate yet, it's incomplete to me.

I'll say C+ for now. Held all their stud prospects and took pressure off the young hitters. Gave up 2 years of John Jaso for free, didn't improve future. Need a pitcher and a catcher.

We signed Ronny Paulino. Really solid backup catcher.

As expected, a huge drop off from Jaso IMO, but at least its not olivo.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Mariners continue to talk to Felix Hernandez about a contract extension and are "at least weighing" a four-year, $100 million offer.
It's not known whether the Mariners have actually made such an offer, as one source described the two sides as "dancing" but not deeply engaged. Hernandez is under contract for two more years for a total of $39.5 million, so if the reported figure is accurate, the total outlay would be $139.5 million over six seasons. This would be in the neighborhood of recent contracts given to Zack Greinke ($147 million) and Cole Hamels ($144 million), so such an offer would at lest serve as a solid starting point in negotiations.
We need to get this done ASAP

Anyone else worried that neither Montero or Paulino has ever really caught full time? Could be a stretch to get through 162 games when both are used to 50-70 games a year.

Hoep Montero only catches about 40-50 games at the most. Hope Zunino is up in the bigs by that time.

I think Montero catches 100 games (or about that proportion until Zunino comes up).

i hope they dont flirt with the idea of bay or ibanez winning an OF spot over guti, or even platooning with him or saunders... the thought of morse and ibanez/bay in the OF with montero catching is gross.

we need saunders, and guti to have a big year, not only for offensive purposes but to make sure we keep ibanez and bay from playing any D.

exactly. thats why i loathe wedge. i cant stand when a team shuffles the lineup everyday. my kinda team is when a player knows going to the ballpark exactly where they will play and bat in the lineup and who will hit in front and behind em.... i know the hitters weren't helping him out but it didnt even seem like wedge even tried to find a consistent lineup, and prolly hindered some of the guys (no excuse tho).... The best Mariner teams ever a casual fan coulda predicted the lineup card, i think that is sign of a good team...
