Let's Really Break This All Down.

Not to sound like a dick or anything but we have quite a few threads that talk about what we need to do, who we need to draft and who we need to get rid of.

I see none with the actual stats from above in them and many people not understanding where we are in terms of actually getting to the QB VS other teams. With knowing where we actually are at maybe people can actually break down what or where we should actually do or go this off season.
    ~
Actual Stats are nice to compare with. Like Example the Rams 51 sacks from there Def and only 38 Sacks allowed by there Offense. However they finished 7-8-1
    ~
In my opinion when we play teams that have a real strong Offensive Line we get beat. I feel Capers schemes against Strong Offensive Lines lacks the fundamentals to actually put pressure on the QB. If he makes more adjustments we might be winning the most important games.
    ~
Yes I agree TT has done A great job. Will what he does this year separate us further? I do hope so.
    ~
O-Line has to get Better in 2013. Def Coaches need to Break down film a lot better and make the correct adjustments.
    ~
47 sacks is a nice thing to build on and hopefully those numbers increase in 2013.

We need a change in mentality in the trenches. Stop with this ballerina BS up front. Enough of the match ups this, clean plays that, technique, blah blah blah. Enough! Its time we turn our linemen, on both sides of the ball, into junkyard dogs and just let them loose. If it means getting new players then do it. Immediately. If it means firing the OL/DL coaches, then do it. Yesterday. If it means an adjustment in gameplanning and play calling then what the hell are we waiting for?

I would absolutely love to see us so aggressive and come to every game playing like crazed dogs... Some player changes with that mind set and could lead by example in that department would be necessary like in the Middle of the field as on the outside with Mathews and Perry who I feel is going to be a good player we are okay there.
    ~
Capers is not an motivational type coach as he is a booth coach and does not come across as a coach who lights a fire under his players by gathering them all up and getting them pumped up.

I'm excited to see what happens these next 6 months.

I have no issue with Capers being in the booth... Somebody needs to be up there to see the whole field and it makes perfect sense to me that it be Capers. The position coaches on the sidelines need to be lighting a fire under people and getting them motivated, the DC figures out the logistics of it all and calls the plays, while being the visionary. I'm fine with all that as long as it works.

Capers can actually see the whole field I see your point and some teams have someone else in the booth while the head Def Coordinator is down on the field. Wade Phillips 65 on the field as well as many more head coaches. But your correct someone does need to be up in the booth.

Need another stud pass rusher and hopefully Sherrod and Bulaga come back healthy. Also look for a safety and cut Woodson.

The offensive line should fix it's self going into next season. With Sherrod / Bulaga coming back and the likely addition of a C in one of the 1st 3 rounds and Lang going back to LG.

The obvious fix is that the Packers need to invest in a COTF unless they believe EDS is that guy and then they need to get a guy that is able to take pressure off of Aaron Rodgers by Running the football.

If they find those 2 guys and Sherrod can come back and play to his full potential then the Packers will be looking good on offense next season.

It's a surprise to me that the Rams defense had the most sacks. While sacks are a great stat, my impression of the season was the inability of the defense to hold up on third down, especially third and long.

You don't exactly just turn guys into "junkyard dogs." Its a mentality that you either have or don't have. Not only that, its not always the best mentality either. They need to be disciplined and play their roles too.

And you can't just fire the OL and DL coaches assuming they can't motivate guys. If you don't have the players, you can't succeed. Its as simple as that. BJ Raji stunk when we needed him this year. We don't really have a pass rusher on the team other than Clay. We need to add more talent and you can't always blame that on the coaching.

We had a great defense a couple years ago that won us a Super Bowl, with mostly the same guys. All those guys that played well on that stretch have since regressed. Its not just one or two people- its across the board and its every position group. That speaks to coaching, not talent.
