What ever happened to Jorge Cantu?

This was a guy who I thought was gonna be in the bigs for a very long time. He used to be a pretty big name a few years ago, but it seemed he just all of a sudden vanished. I remember him having that great season for the Rays back in like 05, and also having some pretty good numbers with the Marlins. He was young too. He's only 30 years old right now, and it feels he's been out of the majors for 10 years. I know the Rangers and the Padres picked him up a couple years ago, and he had some pretty bad numbers, but they only played him a little. If he played a full season i think he could put up the numbers he did with Tampa and Florida. He didnt play at all last season for some reason. I wanna see him back in the majors, he could still get some years in and help out a team like the Astros, Marlins, Cubs, ect...

    Notable seasons:

    2005: age 23... 28 Hr ; 117 RBIs ; .286 BA

    2008: age 26... 29 Hr ; 95 RBIs ; .277 BA

    2009: age 27... 16 Hr ; 100 RBIs ; .289 BA

*** he also has an MLB Record: first player in MLB history to open a season with at least a hit and an RBI in his team's first nine games

I'm sure someone will say it, but PED's might fit this profile a little too well.

Using BA, HR and RBI to tell how good he was..

Haha, it matters, why? If you want to refute he was any good then do it, no one has any interest in reading useless posts like this.

Looks like he played sparingly in he Angela system last year... I'm also pretty surprise he's not still in the league

Oh my god, shut up with that. Jorge Cantu was a good player, dont try to say how basic stats like BA, HR, and RBI mean someone isnt good.

There's always one of you guys that has to say this, to reaffirm to yourself that everyone knows that you have heard of saber metrics. We see you guy, we know you know.
