Whats not to like about the poles...they are classy. What do you actually think people go to watch the games?
LETS GO CUBBIES...LETS GO DUKE!!!
wonder i the roof top owners can make the buildings bigger?
did I say that?? NO, don't put words in my mouth... Why do I hate Wrigley so much? Only because players hate playing at Wrigley. I am sorry but if players are voicing their opinion and say I will never play there because of this or that then its got to change. And if you can't give your fans an unobstructed view of the game then why would the fans want to come to the game and watch your team? Its 2013 we now have modern materials and architectural structures able to give the fans an unobstructed view why would we not do this? Because the cubs MIGHT have to play somewhere else for a brief time? Give me a break....
If Yankee Stadium and be torn down and rebuilt so can Wrigley freaking field........ good grief... step back from our(yes even mine) homer opinions and look at the big picture here.
My other question so we renovate the stadium how long is it going to last? Are we goign to keep throwing money into it? Would it be cheaper in the long run to build?

Build where, exactly? The Cubs organization is not stupid. Like Wrigley or not, but there are a lot of people going to that ballpark because of the park and neighborhood. Now, I am not one of them. I go to see the game. I am a Cubs fan, not a Wrigley fan. But the fact is, if the Cubs built a new stadium after a few years they would lose the newness of the ballpark and not draw as well as they do at Wrigley. At least, that is what I believe. And I think the Cubs FO believes that too. Yes, the neighborhood needs the Cubs, but the Cubs also need the neighborhood. To me that is why there isn't a new ballpark. IMO it has nothing to do with the FO worrying about tradition and restoration of a "great ballpark". It has everything to do with the FO knowing the park and it's location brings money to the Cubs. Believe me, if I had it my way there woudl be a brand new retractable dome ballpark built similar to Wrigley at a different location. And I would go to see the Cubs play with more comfort. But I think they lose a portion of the fan base who goes for the "experience of Wrigley" (YUK)
Theres just really no other location they could stick a new park and draw what they do in Wrigleyville. For that very simple reason, they need the neighborhood just as much as the neighborhood needs them. A very symbiotic relationship and they of course whether u like it or not, its how the FO treats it when negotiating with the neighborhood.
This is just not true at all. The neighborhood is much more screwed if they leave than the Cubs are.
They are still a major market team with an extremely loyal and fairly strong nationwide following. It's not like they will become the Rays if they aren't in Wrigleyville anymore.
And if this rebuild goes as well as it had better (considering they are sacrificing entire seasons in order to do it), they wouldn't have any trouble drawing a crowd.

David, I think you are kidding yourself here. If the Cubs played at US Cellular for example and the Sox played at Wrigley, my guess is the Sox would outdraw the Cubs. I realize true Cubs fans would go to the game. But there are a lot of non-fans at Cubs games. They are there for the "experience". And if the "experience" was changed by a different ballpark and different location, the Cubs would suffer. Like I said, I would love a new park. But I doubt that happens, ever.
Maybe so. But now they don't have to win and people come. Even on a down year they still outdrew the White Sox. And a lot of that is because of the park and the neighborhood. Yes, maybe if they constantly won the new park would be filled. Maybe! But now they know whatever they do the seats are sold at Wrigley. Even if the crowds are not there because of a bad team, they still have the tickets sold.
