What is the cap impact if Sanchez could be retired or sacked?

If grounds existed for him to be sacked (say drugs found in his locker) or if he retires from football, what is the salary cap impact on us then?

What is went to jail? Or got an injury that caused him to retire from football full stop?

I'm not positive but I'm pretty sure that guarantee means no matter what, he gets his money and no matter what we'd take a hit. I think he could restructure but why would he? I would guess that if he wanted to retire and forfeit his pay we could escape but I'm not even sure about that but as far as injury, it's guaranteed. The cap things are crazy strict and I'm not very knowledgeable about the rules regarding them.
He's here. Get used to it. He's not going anywhere till after next season. Who knows, you may not want him to leave after that.

Sanchez is getting paid no matter what, cut and released or traded.

If Sanchez is cut or released he will count about $17M against the cap.
If Sanchez is traded or remains on the roster, the cap amount is $8.5M.

One thing the Jets can do is trade Sanchez (if they find a suitor) and agree to pay for most of Sanchez contract as part of a deal.

For instance, the Jets could trade Sanchez to whoever, and pay $5.5M of Sanchez's figure, the other trading party would then only be on the hook for $3M.

Why would the Jets consider taking such an approach, because you make moves like that if you decide you will rebuild from the ground up, which usually starts with QB.

I would pay 5.5 to get rid of Sanchez... In a heart beat.

The trick is to find another team to take on the $3M.

For 3 mil Sanchez would generate interest I think. In the rite situation he can succeed, we've seen his first two years.

if sanchez retires, no cap pen., i am almost positive every player has something in their contracts that if they go to jail or do something that the league deems detramental to the image of the nfl and a team, that player can be cut with no penality, see mike vick (falcons).. not only were they able to drop his contract, they got a lot of money back.

Good luck getting Sanchez to retire before next season, when he can make millions riding a bench.

Injuries he still gets the money

If he retires or commits a felony, I think the guaranteed money would be off the table. We'd still be responsible for the prorated signing bonus.
