Novak as a defensive liability is overblown. We NEED him on the court in-order to win games. Let me explain.
There are 5 Knick players on the court more than 50% of the time:
Despite who starts games, these have been our main guys. When our main guys are on the court, the defense gives up an average of 1.08 points per possession. There is nothing advanced about that.
When Novak plays, the defense gives up a whopping 1.07 points per possession. Thats hardly a misstep.
Now we've established that the capacity in-which Woody uses Novakaine, does not in-fact take a toll on our defense.
How about offense?
When our main guys are out there, the Knicks score an average of 1.14 points per possession. Out of all Knick players not the main guys i mentioned, Novak is the only player that doesn't completely destroy our offense. We score an average of 1.13 points per possession when Novak is out there. Next in line is Brewer at 1.09.
Hopefully that paints a picture. If not, i've failed.
Bonus fact: Novak is 3rd behind 'Melo and Chandler in net +/-. In layman's terms, that means he's our 3rd most important player in terms of establishing and maintaining a lead over our opponents. (Raymond is not far behind)
Remember, everyone can have there own OPINIONS, but not everyone can have their own FACTS.
