Game thread 1/19, + Hockey Day

Hockey day tomorrow, and, the kickoff of the NHL season. #1 Gophers vs #6 North Dakota, and Wild vs Avalanche.

Gophers have been destroying college hockey. They succeeded in beating then #1 ranked Boston College 3 weeks ago...which lead to the Gophers current #1 ranking...which continued with the beating of #2 Notre Dame two weeks later...last night, they beat #6 ranked North Dakota, and play them again tonight in the tail end of a two game series.

The Wild open their season tonight against Colorado. A new era of Wild hockey begins tonight. With the additions of Suter and Parise, the front office is attempting to put a team on the map that the state of hockey deserves.

I will be working at my bar tomorrow night, and will be avoiding this game thread, as I will have it recording. Excited to see how our lines work. The additions of Parise and Suter were tremendous additions, but lost in that, is that we added Heatley and Setoguchi last year. With those 3 additions on offense, we get the most complete forward lines we have seen in...I think forever for the Wild. I will be focusing primarily on Setoguchi tomorrow, and seeing how he fits in a more reasonable role to the one he played the prior year.

Tonight I am going out to celebrate a good friends birthday and will miss the game. Unfortunately I don't have a DVR anymore..

Gophers have been destroying. Last game for what could be a very long time between UofM and UND. That is going to be bananas!! Not the greatest hockey mind, but I'm so damn happy the NHL is back in action. GET WILD, GUYS!! GET WILD!!!

Just got done with my fantasy hockey draft, I walked away with 5 Wild player - Backstrom, Parise, Suter, Granlund, Koivu...

and 3 Gophers - Kessel, Vanek, Goligoski

    solid draft.

That intermission peptalk must've been something else. What a response. Congrats Granlund on his first NHL goal!
