    Dante Cunningham

    http://www.latimes.com/sports/lakers...,2291191.story

The Lakers have reportedly shown interest in Minnesota Timberwolves forward Dante Cunningham.

According to Darren Wolfson of 1500ESPN.com, "Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak is said to have called the Wolves recently about forward Dante Cunningham."

Cunningham is a 6-foot-8, 25-year-old forward who averages 7.4 points and 5.5 rebounds a game this season.

There's no word as to who or what Kupchak offered in return but Cunningham has a $2.09-million salary.

"With a reasonable $2.1 million team option for 2013-14, Cunningham won't be easy to get," according to 1500ESPN.com. Technically it's $2.18 million. The Timberwolves are reportedly looking to add size to their roster.

Minnesota has been linked to Pau Gasol in the past but there's no suggestion yet from the Lakers they're ready to make a major move.

The trade deadline is Feb. 21.
I like Cunningham. He is a very good defender and he is exactly the type of role player we need. If we get him, Laker fans should be very happy.

I'm guessing Jodie Meeks would be a part of that deal...

He is a PF, too slow for SF. Not a great shooter. He would help us out A LOT defensively though, which is what we need.

Not if we have to give up Meeks. He needs to be brought in with a 3 team deal moving Gasol and bringing in others.

If it's true that Mitch has been calling around for a younger PF, it somewhat shows us that they might be ready to deal Pau

This looks like what may be the departure of Pau. The Twolves have wanted Pau teamed up with Rubio since last year. Lakers might be able to get a good package of young high energy players from the Twolves. If they get Cunningham, Barrea, and if Derrick Williams came back home (from La Mirada) and showed why he was chosen #2 in the 2011 draft, the Lakers instantly have youth and possible potential for the future. I think this has legs...

We have to hurry up if we're going to trade Pau though. Our FO has to make up their mind. You either keep him and roll with it, or you deal him.

I don't think they have a clue what they want right now, and it's killing us.

With Clark playing well imo we need a PG back up or C back up before another tweener Forward

Dwight Howard should be playing at least 38 minutes a game. I think we can do with 10 minutes a game with out a C at times. Artest + Cunningham + Clark is a nice trio down low defensively.
