Marty Mornhinweg hired as OC

his head coaching record is 5-27, and his last two years as an OC is 12-18

Pointing to records when he was the head coach of the Detroit Lions? And when he was the OFFENSIVE coordinator of the Eagles...? Who fell off defensively the past 2 years?

2012 season- Eagles offense was 15th total yards
2011 season- Eagles offense was 4th in total yards.
2010 season- Eagles offense was 2nd in total yards.
2009 season- Eagles offense was 11th in total yards.
2008 season- Eagles offense was 9th in yards.
2007 season- Eagles offense was 6th in total yards.
2006 season- Eagles offense was 2nd in total yards.

Its not a perfect way to judge but its much better than wins-losses. Its no doubt that the Eagles were losing games because of their defense, not their offense this year.

Its pass heavy but who's to say we don't find a decent quarterback this offseason to operate it? It's not a huge deal, even if it means the Jets offense takes a year or two to pick up, we couldn't just keep pounding the ball (and not really getting much success) forever. It was a good hire. He isn't a one year guy.

Please - No Mike Vick. Nothing to do with his past outside of football. I have stated my reasons for not wanting Michael Vick elsewhere, and I stand by them, but if our Jets actually do find a way to afford him - I will root for him.

There is nothing, that I know of, that shows Marty was responsible, and happy with getting Vick. He just did the best he could with what he had. I hope he will have a long, and successful run as our new OC!

Well I just saw a snippet in a report that said Rex "loves Vick" so who knows. But a few months ago we had a thread "who will be our QB next season" and I said Alex Smith or Vick. And my reasoning was because Woody loves headlines and Vick would be a HUGE headline. This OC hire has me scratching my head. We're not really equipped for this type of offense and the QBs in this years and possibly next years draft are nothing that special. I guess we'll see what happens.

Regardless of who our starting QB is next year, I think Mornhinweg will bring a new style to the offense. I'd love if the made a deal for Matt Flynn.
