Colts hire Pep Hamilton (Stanford's OC) as new OC

Congrats to Pep Hamilton on accepting the Colts offensive coordinator position.

Not sure if he's jumping the gun or if his sources actually confirmed the news, but I think we should all be happy about this.

Hats off to Grigson and Pagano for getting Hamilton inked quickly after Arians left. Viewed as a very strong hire.

Now Bremer, Chappell, Ian Rappaport (nfl.com) have all quoted this tweet, so they must think it's official as well... if so, then great hire!

Every Indy Writer I follow on twitter seems to be following suit. I guess Pep also interviewed for the Oregon HC job.

I think he was the best option on the board....we have a fresh face as a coach and now one as our OC. Just worried he will be a hot name when Luck continues to grow...how long will he be here before getting HC offers either in the NFL or big college programs?

That would be true for almost any OC we would have hired, except Tom Moore.

Pretty weak resume for a OC - hope it pans out.

The biggest side story to this: Welcome back, Coby Fleener.

    Huh?
He was with the Jets for 3 years Chicago, San Fransico 49ers and with Stanford.

I was thinking the same thing. For what was out there I think they did an great job at getting the next OC. I am thrilled with the hire.

    Edit.

Here is a link to a great breakdown of the hire.

Welcome in the West Coast/Power Running Offense!
If winning isn't everything, why do they keep score?

Exactly. Plus he needs to stay healthy. I'm very excited about this move.

Have to figure they had already put feelers out to him when BA started interviewing. Didn't want to be shut out of having a quality replacement lined up as all the chips had already started to fall into place elsewhere.

^Very true, especially after hearing he had an interview with Oregon the same day for the Head Coach gig
