Chicago Bears Reportedly Fire Offensive Coordinator Mike Tice

Marc Trestman is looking to get a fresh start with the Chicago Bears as the team's new head coach, and he hasn't wasted any time. He has reportedly fired offensive coordinator Mike Tice and two other assistants.

According to McClure, offensive line coach Tim Holt and wide receiver coach Darryl Drake have been let go as well. Drake has been with the organization since 2004.

Still, Tice is the most notable name in this group after spending four years as head coach of the Minnesota Vikings from 2002 to 2005.

After being fired from that position, he spent four years as an assistant with the Jacksonville Jaguars before becoming offensive line coach with the Bears. Two years later, he replaced Mike Martz as the team's offensive coordinator.

Unfortunately, things did not go as expected in his only year running the offense. The Bears ranked No. 16 in the NFL in total points and only No. 28 in total offense.

Embarrassingly, the squad finished in the top 10 in sacks allowed, which was supposed to be Tice's specialty coming into the job.

Lovie Smith was fired as head coach at the end of the season after missing the playoffs despite starting with a 7-1 record. It was unknown if Tice would join him on the unemployment line, but now it seems that the new coach will move on without him.

With plenty of experience in the NFL as both a player and a coach, however, it is likely that Tice will be able to find a job somewhere next season.
