    Get to know the team

Post videos, quotes, or something relevant to a players style or personality in here.

I'm gonna start it off with Zenon Konopka. Watching the scrimmage tonight, I got really interested in him, after FSN put up a quote by him, which was "If (Heatley and Koivu) want to sit at center ice and read the paper, they should have time to do that. I love enforcers, and guys who know their roles. That quote reminded me of fictional character Doug Glatt from the movie Goon...just to sidetrack a bit here, you guys need to watch Goon. It is a recent movie, available for instant stream on Netflix...it revolves around an enforcers life. I loved it, and would put it 4th on my list of hockey movies....behind the 3 Mighty Ducks movies, in no particular order.

Here are some videos of Zenon Konopka, that will help you better understand his player personality, and role on the team.

    Zenon Konopka mic'd up...

LMAO..."I'm coming" to an opposing player before he laid a hit on him....opposing player after getting hit...."thank you."

Fast forward to about the 2 minute mark to see Konopka destroying.

He owns a wine company, and plays hide an go seek with rabbits.

however, he may not even be the best fighter/enforcer on the team...that is up for debate...

wow, can't leave this one out...

Konopka vs Sean Avery...the fight starts just 3 minutes into the game, and Konopka provokes Avery during pre-game drills.

Glad he's on our squad. Also, like that he his good when it comes to faceoffs. I believe I saw he's wins them at a career 60% clip.

yeah, the commentators tonight were talking about that too...how the enforcer is a dying breed, and you need to be more than just an enforcer now. Zenon has added the faceoff ability to his game...also, reading some of those comments from those youtube videos, a lot of people were saying that Zenon was once an offensive creator for his former teams...interesting to hear.

Posting about Zenon, got me thinking of Boogaard (RIP), and the video I watched of Derek, and the 10 beers I have had got me a little emotional. I really think Derek may be one of the best enforcers of all time. His highlight reel is ridiculous.

I am 27 now, and in my life span, I have never seen an enforcer ignite a crowd and a team like the Boogey man did.

My cats jumped straight up in the air and bolted upstairs because of the scream I let out after Boogey laid out Gillies. That has got to be one of my favorite YouTube vids of all time. He had a role and nobody played it better. Miss that guy for sure.
