Nats, Braves, Phillies
The Cult of Gattis
I wonder if the Nats limit Strasberg's arm like last year...that slew them down, and prohibit their overall potential. But, they're stacked.
If my Nats stay relatively healthy i think we are hands down the overall best team in the division if not then i think the Braves and Phillies will end up deciding it between themselves.
Nats return:april 2014
Durability questions with each of the top 3 teams really, but the Nats are the defending champs and team to beat.
30 Team Stadium Checklist: 11 to go
1) Yankees 2) Orioles 3) Rays 4) Red Sox 5) Mets 6) Braves 7) Phillies 8) Nationals 9) Marlins 10) Pirates 11) Padres 12) Astros 13) Mariners 14) Twins 15) Cubs 16) White Sox 17) Cardinals 18) Indians 19) Tigers 20) Royals (May 2014)
Also, half a game back at the end of the year? How's that going to work. If the Braves finish half a game back and have only played 161 games, you don't think they'd be complaining to Bud Selig to play that final game so they could try to win the division?
The best team in the NLE is the Nationals by far. Their SP and pen is ridiculous. The top 3 in Phillie is pretty awesome, but 1-5, the Nationals have the edge. With Soriano on board, the Nats pen is downwright scary. Startes need only go 5 or 6 innings with the lead and it's pretty much light out from there. Kudos to the Braves' pen. It's pretty sick too, but I still give the overall edge to the Nats.
The IF in Washington pretty sick too. There are other good IFs as well, but in this particular division, they stand out by not having any glaring holes. With a revised OF that includes Denard Span, there is no part of the OF these guys can't cover. If the Braves can add another Upton in the OF, I'd give them the edge in this area.
Until then, the Nats lights out the best in the NLE.
I think the Nats are the best team, but if some of the Braves young players can make major leaps on offense (Heyward, Simmons, Freeman) then the gap could narrow. However, the Nats also have some young guys who could exlpode. The Phils have the veterans who've been there done that, so never count them out. Definitely one of the better division in the League.

Agreed, they are probably the third best division:
1. ALE (duh)
2. NL Central (they lost the Astros)
3. NLE (Miami is going to bring them down, maybe the Mets too)
4. ALW (Astros brought them down, I would have had them at 2 without the addition of HOU)
5. NLW (Have the Giants, well balanced division, but no standouts)
6. ALC (Nobody outside of DET and maybe CHW)
