Morse stays healthy and he could. Low risk high reward trade here. Not a Mariner fan in here that doesnt love Jaso, but look at the big picture and this is a win win trade. Platoon C that might not have a spot as Zunino could make the team out of spring training for a MOTO bat.
My point was that you dont need average and homers to be good. Jaso has less of both last year and was still more productive.

Well.. Jen, when you don't have anyone who can put the ball into the cheap seats, that's the exact refrain you would expect.. Homers!!! what about allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll that extra time that a player takes jogging around the bases !! It slows the game down !!.. RME.....

He was more productive because he played against lefties 99% of the time. How do you think Morse would have done if he faced pitchers that he dominated every game? Jaso seems like a great guy to have in the clubhouse, but he cannot play every game.

Mariners made out on this. Morse is a monster that can put the ball out of anywhere. Now he is in a situation where he gets to DH here n there.
Also as much I am glad Bay isn't on the Mets anymore, he is a better fielder than Ibanez & Morse.
I at least give him credit for that.

Quick question though. I see all this talk about signing Bourn. Don't you already have a GG CF? I know he has been injured but Gutierrez can go get it out there. Is Bourn/Saunders gonna be an upgrade over Guti/Saunders?

I don't think so. Especially when you consider the amount you'd be paying Bourn. When healthy Guti can hit .280 and run down any ball in the outfield. Guti will hit a few more HRs than Bourn, but Bourn will steal a few more bases. I'll take Guti.

I agree, but that doesnt take away the fact that Jaso was still more valuable despite getting less time. I am just trying to play devils advocate and keep everyone modest.

Yeah maybe we run with Guti, and Saunders can lead off. I am down with that.

The good news, Franklin Gutierrez has had a stellar winter ball season. His injury history is concerning as he hasn't been able to stay on the field for any length of time over the last couple of season. Odds are that his injury history could be a thing of the past and he could be patrolling CF as the Fielding Bible Award Winning Center Fielder that Ms fans hoped they were getting when he was traded for Zeke Carrera and Joe Smith.

I'll repeat.. Michael Bourn had a HORRIBLE second half last year.. and this, imho, represents what happens to a speed guy when he loses his wheels.. 30 Plus year olds do that..

Well yeah Jaso was more valuable than Morse cause Morse was on another team. Now Morse will be more valuable cause Jaso is gone. Duh Jej, duh.

Guti can't stay healthy Booz and nobody knows if Guti can even hit anymore he has been out of the game for like two seasons.

Not even getting my hopes up with him he was supposed to be figured out last season and it wasn't.

Ok this is off topic but is Geronimo a past M's fan? Just feels like it since he seems like someone who frequents our forum quite a bit with the Jen comment lol.

As GS said above, Guti has performed greatly so far in winter ball. And yes, I agree that his health is and always will be a question-mark. Regardless, I'd much rather save the cash and focus on extending guys like Felix, Morales and perhaps Morse. GS also talked about Bourn's significant decline in the second half. Yeah, I'll pass on him.
