Yes, he would take a pick.

I dont think the moves we have made make it so getting a leadoff hitter helps. Theres a very good chance that only one of the two are here long term, and a chance that neither are.
You have no idea how excited I am right now.

Do Mariner fans still believe that defense and pitching wins games? *Note, see 2004-2012.

Fact - Jaso only played against righties. He is a great situational player. He is sub-par in the field. Could he be a contributor for the next few years? Beyond a pinch hitter, likely not because Zunino will be up here by 2014.
Thats what I am thinking. I love me some Jaso but this improves our lineup. I don't like having a bunch of situational guys. They are nice to have on your bench if you have a line up full of solid everyday bats. Morse is a potential MOTO bat and can hit against righties and lefties. This deal means Morse, Montero, and Morales will be in the line up every day. Get a third OF that can make up for Morse's inabilities and make it work. I like Bourn but if he isn't the guy find another option. We need a speedster that can cover some ground and lead off.

    Bourn
    Ackley
    Morse
    Morales
    Montero
    Seager
    Smoak
    Saunders
    Ryan

That looks pretty good to me and that would be the lineup everyday. And you have Bay, Ibanez, Guti, Wells for PH, and defensive replacements.

And the First 5 hitters names spell out BAMMM. How is that not a winner.

I'm not sold on Bourn. He looks like a Figgy 2.0 for more money. A healthy Guti and an improving Saunders are more valuable in my opinion. Save the money and extend some of these guys like Felix, Morales and maybe Morse.

    I'm assuming...

    1B - Smoak
    DH - Morales
    C - Montero
    LF - Morse

Except Bourn is healthier and plays CF Figgins really didn't play elite at any spot while with the Mariners.

1B. Reason I said sign Bourn. Get his speed in the OF with Saunders to help Morse. Morse plays RF. Montero Catches, and Morales DH's.

He wants what the rumors have been saying then no I will pass, but if the price has come down then I would do it.
yes. signing bourn would cost us the 13th pick

My post from the main forum that Booz suggested I relay here:

To the person I was talking to:

Morse didnt play full time. He played 103 games and was injured. Its not fair to completely judge him on one injury laden season.

Also, expect regression from Jaso. He is a platoon catcher and will always hit righties well, but not as well as he did last year most likely.

I am not a huge fan of the deal, but you overreacted big time.

    Jaso Career: .255/.359/.395, .337 wOBA, 116 wRC+, 5.4 WAR in 311 games, 297 of them against RHP.

    Morse career: .295/.347/.492, .363 wOBA, 127 wRC+, 6.1 WAR in 485 games.
You have no idea how excited I am right now.
