Franchise players are the only guys you should be giving 8 years to in this new cba. Zajac doesn't qualify. Bad move.

I completely trust in Lou. Grabo got 6 million and he's worse. Zajac is awesome and plays in every situation, and we have more then enough space. Sure it's a bit high, but I don't mind it for what he brings to the table.

Not even close. Chuck Fletcher takes that away by a long shot. Lou is one of the best GM's in hockey, and that's no opinion.

    Just too much for Zajac.

Coming off a year lost to injury. The year before that was a down year. The salary cap is going down next year pretty significantly which means a deal like this (made after knowledge of next year's salary cap) just doesn't make sense.

#Devils Travis Zajac no trade 8yrs 46M deal. No more front loaded money. Case in pt. 1st yr 3.5M. 2 yr 5M, 3rd-6th yr 6.5M. Last two 5.75M.

Should have went 8 years at $40-$44 million. $5.75 per year for him is too much. $5.5 could even be considered too much...

This is a pretty bad contract.

They really get no benefit unless they thinks hes a star in 2 years

    Why go 8? I don't get it. I'd rather go 5/30 than 8/46

He also didn't have this much leverage.

No. Grabovski got $5.5 million. Oh, and are you forgetting something? Like maybe the most important part? 5 years. Zajac got 8. And Grabovski is pretty "awesome" in his own right.
