    Team Needs NOW???

I've struggled back and forth with this...With the emergence of Earl Clark and the dimisnhing realistic trade scenarios involving Pau Gasol...what needs do we really have to address before the trade deadline? This is where I'm at right now...
    PG
Although Morris has played well, I don't think D'Antoni views him as a PG...more like a combo guard specialist...he can push the ball and play good on ball defense...
With that said...D'Antoni is on record about blake being a favorite of his...still not buying the hype...His last meltdown with a front row fan was the nail in the coffin...
I think Blake, Duhon and pieces will be packaged for a strater type upgrade to split time with Nash...and even play combo with him at times....Calderon?
    SF
Earl Clark may be the answer...but he also may be the answer at PF...so I think this a position that deems attention...we need a shooter at the 3...A Carlos Delfino type...that plays defense and can nail the outisde shot...would love someone more athletic...Matt Barnes would've been perfect this year...
This is really it...and let's just gel and roll...
    What's everyone else thinking?

    This.

I dream of the day when the Lakers build a complete team. Our bench is utterly useless yet again. We have an old team + no depth + a coach who likes to run... that's a terrible combination

seems to me like the answers are on point

This teams problems aren't fixable during the season

You aren't one of those silly "believers" that actually think we can make a run this year?

    If so, disregard the above.

For the sake of consistency/performance, I believe the following players should not be moved:

Nash, Kobe, MWP, Pau, Dwight, Clark, and maybe Meeks.

Everyone else should be used in an effort to acquire one somewhat significant player. With the emergence of Clark, I don't think acquiring an athlete is a must. Here are two potential scenarios that I think could encourage more immediate success.

Duhon's contract provision allowing his 3.5 mil to come off of the books would be enough to make this work IMO.

    Nash - Kobe - MWP - Pau - Dwight
    Douglas - Meeks - Jones - Clark - Sacre

This is kind of a stretch because of Lowry, there would have to be picks involved:

    Nash - Kobe - Beasley - Pau - Dwight
    Lowry - Morris - MWP - Clark - Sacre

    1) A credible PG off bench, I too believe Morris would be better suited off the ball.

    2) We need a DG....What is a DG you ask? A DG is what I call a Designated Gunner. A Designated Gunner is much like what the Clippers have in Jamal Crawford. He is a guy who comes of the bench and does one thing score the damn ball. One of our biggest problem is when Kobe goes to the bench, We really dont have a player who can get his shot. A guy who can draw fouls and get to the line, Much like a Kevin Martin or Ray Allen type. Their job is to do one thing....When the stars go to the bench, He comes in to extend the lead.

    3) To turn up our defensive intensity, We have some decent defenders on this team....Howard, MWP, Kobe(When he wants to), Morris and Duhon are O.K. and Clark is pretty good in the limited time he has played. D'Antoni doesn't preach defense,But that is not a reason to play any. We need Howard and Clark or Gasol to shut that middle down. And Kobe, MWP to shut the wings off and Nash to just compete.

The Lakers have to want to win, They must will themselves to play defense. As we all know, Scoring will come and go....But defense will always be there. And that's what we need to rest our has on!

You say you dream of this day like you're a Bobcats fan and have never seen success...It wasn't too long ago that we had Fisher, Bryant, Metta, Gasol, & Bynum as the starters, with Farmer, Shannon Brown, and Lamar Odom coming off the bench. Our bench was one of the best in the league...Laker fans are greedy...we've had great and complete teams

The way Clark rebounds and defends....I don't think there's a need for a Kenyon Martin...unless we're planning on sticking Clark at SF...

We're running low on ketchup, and we've only got half a roll of toilet paper left.

I think we can get by without the ketchup, but if we run out of toilet paper things are going to get ugly real fast.

We need more defenders. If we could get a really good perimeter defender or two we would be set, and maybe a real legit 3 point shooter.

    Lose DAntoni
See if Nash and Blake can be traded for a quality PG that can play D and a solid 2-guard bench player
    Try Gasol off the bench

I agree with your post, the thing I think will help is what you touched on,
We need better mid-range to long range shooting,
I went to the game where Gasol got hurt,
I like that guy, no, actually I love that guy
    he got us two championships
we turned the corner when we got him,
he knows when to talk and when to shut up too,
    a real athlete and gentleman

But he's a center and if Howard is going to stay Gasol
should be traded for that outside shooting we need,
very disappointed Meeks did not provide more,
We need another Meeks who can provide maybe twice as
much scoring, I like that guy Anderson, like him a lot.
