Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports reports that the Nationals and Rafael Soriano have agreed to a two-year, $28 million contract.

Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post reports that the deal includes a $14 million vesting option for 2015 if he reaches 120 games finished between 2013 and 2014. It's a stunning destination for Soriano, as the Nationals already have Drew Storen and Tyler Clippard in-house as late-game options. Of course, Soriano is represented by Scott Boras and his working relationship with Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo is pretty well established by now. Given the massive salary involved, it's safe to assume that Soriano will take over the closer role in Washington. For signing Soriano, the Nationals will give up their first-round pick in 2013 and the draft pool money that comes along with it.

It is essential for the future of this team that we nail this draft..too many duds lately. no more trendy bichette and culver picks, trust the scouting community

Just sign the best available player.....for the most part they could always change positions, example, Posada!

Would've been sweet if we could've done a sign and trade using Soriano for Morse, but the draft picks will be nice!

    Re-stock, re-tool, REWARD!

Is it just me, or have all of our competitors gotten better somehow this offseason? Even the Red Sux have. What are we doing?
