Edit: I live in NY state for those that were wondering because I know prices vary in states.
Its hard to say cuz it kinda depends on what kinda beer u like.

Blue moon or shock top great white are both really smooth, my brother doesn't drink beer except for these two. If ur not sure what kinda flavor ur after u can't go wrong with these. 12 pack in chi cost about $15, ny should be similar.

Not really a beer, but I really like Magners, it's a cider from Ireland.

What do you recommend and what should I stay away from??

I personally love anything from Stone Brewery! Stone Pale Ale, Stone IPA, Stone Arrogant Bastard Ale and also Stone Vertical Epic Ale. Craft beer is better because it's a higher alcohol content than regular domestic beer so you don't have to drink as much to get a good buzz going, plus it doesn't taste like crap.
    Stone Arrogant Bastard is great.

I also forgot Magic Hat #9 and Circus Boy

Did that with Bud Light Lime and Frosted Flakes. It was God awful, probably too much sugar. It was way too sweet. I think I still need to do Fruit Loops and Leinenkugel Sunset Wheat though. They taste the same, I'm not sure how that can't be good.
