If you want the ultimate, you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price. It's not tragic to die doing what you love.

Me personally? I hate PF but statistically yes I'd say top 10 easily
Don't like me?
Go have a seat with the rest of the putas waiting for me to give a flying fk.
#1 for me
I can never rank albums or specific songs like this. Music is such an "in the moment" type of thing for me. Depending on my mood or what I'm doing, will influence what I want to listen to.
I truly do not have a favorite song or a favorite album. There's certain songs that I love but completely forget about for years. Same way with albums. Obviously something as famous and as popular/mainstream as DSOTM is played all over the place so you're bound to hear it no matter what.
I think the album is tremendous and I, unlike some other on here, really enjoy Pink Floyd.
In terms of influence, this has to be on the short list of greatest albums of all time. I can't give you a specific number though.
...in fact, this got me thinking about a great song I haven't heard in years: Isis by Bob Dylan. I'm gonna go give it a listen.

Hurricane and Isis alone make Desire a tremendous album from Dylan.
And Dark Side of the Moon is a great album... coming from someone who typically loathes any genre not relating to Hip-Hop.
First time I ever heard Meddle I was about 12 years old, riding shotgun in my oldest cousin's Mustang Mach 1. He popped in the 8 track (yes, I'm really THAT old,) told me to put on my seat belt, and when we hit 117mph he told me to take a look at the speedometer. That was just about the time the loping bass, burst into full funk Pink Floyd boom. We listened to the entire album, speeding down country backroads with the windows open and the stereo as loud as stereos could go back then. For all time, that album will remind me of that perfect day.
Later, when I got a li'l older, I would sit with that gatefold LP and my huge Koss headphones,
and just go live in that world. Back then, I thought David Gilmour was the single coolest person
on Earth. He's still pretty "up there".![]()
it's in my top 20
You know what else is in my Top 10? Listening to DSotM while watching The Wizard of Oz.
That truly is, SO AMAZING.
