Not upset we didn't sign him. He doesn't really fit into what we're trying to do.
But he's gonna mash for the Phillies.

I don't see him mashing over there because he was terrible against RHP and even if he hits he has such little value because every other aspect of his game is piss poor.
He is going to be their Lucas Duda.
More upside than Delmon Young..
Delmon Young is god awful.
Andres Torres has a 12 career fWAR and Rauch was fairly good for the Mets last year after April.
He was their only effective bullpen pitcher for much of the season last year.
Even FF has an over 5 career WAR.
Those guys are better in spades compared to Delmon Young and his feebleness at the plate, on the base pads, and in the field.

All these moves exactly the opposite of what you've said we should be doing that being 'pieces that can help in the future', if you want to talk about wasting money, how about talking about wasting $12M on that POS?
But let me guess, that was different...

Remember Delmon Young was a #1 overall pick not a guy like Jon Rauch who was drafted in the 3rd round.
He was supposed to be than a 0.8 fWAR player over his 7 year career.
Rauch, FF, and Torres were certainly not supposed to have had better careers to this point than a guy with his supposed ability.
Honestly i don't know what your point is.
It's a good idea for SA not to bring in a player like Delmon Young.

Don't compare Delmon to Duda. At least Duda could get on base, he's going to have a bounceback year offensively imo.
