These are real busts.
Keith Mc Cants
Ja Marcus Russell
Sean La Chapelle
Those are busts.
A guy is not a bust simply because he didn't live up to the hype or was not surrounded with adequate talent around him.
A bust is out of football after 3-4 seasons of doing nothing.
Everyone knows DMC hasnt lived up to his expectations. Thats not even arguable.
I do however think he deserves another shot at being the featured back. Afterall, its not his fault his team is (was?) the worst managed football team in the NFL. Its been thru numerous coaches, while dealing with a talentless roster.
So how is it fair to single out DMC? To be honest, he's been the only player that has shown flashes of being able to single handedly perform at a high level. Now imagine DMC behind a properly built and well coached offense? Thats a situation I would definitely invest in!
Lol, 5 years, approximately $50M later, and we've got 3300 yards and 18 TD's (ooh, almost 4800 yards and 23 TD's if we include receiving stats..yeah, that makes the difference).
Lol, and this guy still has supporters. Meh, no accounting for taste I guess. But it just goes to show that fan is just short for fanatic.
"Win some games, make the playoffs and show me you got some balls under the bright lights"
Pro football is a business not a popularity contest. I'll bet that the McFadden supporters also consistently loose money playing slot machines at the casino.
Same type of thinking.....
"..When you have great coaches, then after you have great coaches you get great players, you have a great organization, and you tell them one thing-
Just win baby"

49ers dont run the ball well?
Specifically the money invested.
Swami, I for one supported the man up until this year, you know that. But when you draft someone that high, invest that much money, and the return is 700 yards a year that is a bust period.
Does it suck he gets hurt? Yes...
I do not except the talent excuse or scheme excuse. You put Barry Sanders, AP, WP, Bettis, Martin, LT, or any of the other great RB's we've enjoyed the last few decades here and they would perform.
Some folks step up to the spotlight and deliver regardless of the talent that surrounds them. They make everyone better, while the supporting cast and coaches propel them to greatness. Sure Emmitt Smith woudl not have had the numbers he did without that team, but he would've performed at a high level. DMC has yet to do that period. After five years, 50mil, and a top 5 pick, we have yet to see anything that suggests he was worth the pick and the money; thus, setting our team back 5 years....
That is a bust period. My guess is GM's and Coaches would say the same. It sucks, but it is reality. I'm amazed so many people just cannot grasp that. Even if he does stay healthy the rest of his career, the chances of him putting out more then 2-3 good seasons or 1-2 amazing seasons is slim to none.
When hue bought thd power blocking to the team, Dmac was a beast. Under cable Dmac was average, under knapp even worst. Point is canle and knapp ran zone, hue ran power and he was a beast. Now were back to the power and I guarantee he will be a beast again.
