I thought Russell Martin said the only way he'd play in the WBC is if they'd let him play shortstop. I seem to remember the coach saying he'd be up for it.

We need guys like Votto, Dempster, Bedard, Diamond to play for any real chance at a top 3 finish. A 3-4-5 of Lawrie, Morneau and Votto could win us a couple games for sure.

I agree. If we can't get the top tier talent then what's the point of even going. I don't wanna be the Germany of the world juniors lol

Our pitching as of now is pretty bad and stands no chance. Even Scott Richmond would help at this point. Saunders is a nice little piece in CF though
But ya we need th guys mentioned above. Even Bay

They'll do alright, but the WBC is a joke.

Sounds as if Votto's going to be there, just working out some insurance issues.
Bay's a no go, but there's still a chance for Dempster.
    Haven't heard anything about Bedard.

As for Russell Martin, he said he would be willing to play SS to help the team out, definitely not a demand.

votto usually goes... but i dont remember dempster ever playing the wbc...
Kramer Champlin scared the "Devil" right out of the Tampa Bay Rays' team name.
Kramer Champlin once struck out 27 batters in a game... using wiffle balls.

So Dempster says he signs in Boston in large part because of Farrell then won't play for team Canada? Seriously, **** that guy.

Canada's starting pitching could be pretty good in the future, with Jameson Taillon, James Paxton and Scott Diamond all having the chance to be pretty good (or really good, in Taillon's case).

It is pretty weak right now though.

If I'm not mistaken he's recovering from surgery, so he won't be there. Pitching always seems to be our issue.
