    I'm guessing they have decided against the exception then. I strongly believe we need to sign Kenyon Martin. If Clark or Jamison go down we are ****ed. Signing Martin now would also allow him time to get used to the squad instead of him being thrown into the team all of a sudden because of an injury.

    The problem with applying for the exception is that Hill CAN'T play again this year. He would be ineligible even if he was healthy and they didn't use. There might be some remote possibility that he could play in the playoffs and they don't want to jeopardize that.

    Either way, i doubt the cheap *** front office wants to add more salary.

    I absolutely did not intend to imply that West was dangerous or a thug in any way -- but I see in retrospect how it might have seemed as if I was doing just that because I also mentioned Cousins. My point in doing so was simply to show how little it takes to destabilize a team. (Again, if you've ever had to deal with or work with someone who's mentally ill, it can be an almost impossible problem to solve.)

    Delonte West has a mental health issue that is not a joke. He clearly needs and is hopefully getting professional-grade treatment designed not only to help him in the near term -- whether or not that means playing more ball -- but also in the long term. Hopefully he has the money and the personal relationships that will allow him to get that help.

    * Not really.

    relative to their profitability they are cheap

    raw payroll numbers are irrelevant without the context of revenue

    Profitability-wise, there will never be a payroll this high again. This team is about winning, whatever the cost.

    The Lakers also filed for a disabled player exception for Jordan Hill on Tuesday, general manager Mitch Kupchak told ESPNLosAngeles.com.

    Uh huh...I'm listening.
    Finally some proactive ideas from the old schoolers.
