Is this a serious thread?
Has nothing to.do with karma but everything to do with horrible decision making. It seems everybody knew what the Lakers needed to do and.for some reason they did the complete opposite in hiring Mike D.Originally Posted by SoylentGreen:25066280
Derek Fisher? Are you kidding? The guy is a doorstop. He couldn't stick with OKC or Dallas, and he was giving us less than nothing before he got traded.
LO was a basket case mentally and his skills had degraded physically. He's slowly turning it around, but only because he's been allowed to take his time, he's in LA again, and he's the ninth option on a loaded team so he feels no pressure. Check back with me when a game is on the line.
As for Phil, nothing prevented him from jumping at the chance to coach the Lakers. Instead, he played politics and got his *** handed to him.
Jeebus -- when are people going to snap off the rear-view mirror and move on?

Apparently it's turned a great many Laker fans into whiners, haters and pessimists.
The great majority of our issues relate to injuries. We're as snake-bit as any team I've ever seen in my life. (More like an NFL franchise than NBA.) We've had zero continuity anywhere on the roster or coaching staff, and no chance to sort everything out that needs sorting out.
Phil, Fish and LO would have solved none of the problems we currently have -- including defense, which Odom didn't play particularly well, Fisher couldn't play at all, and Phil let Kobe fake for the last couple years of his coaching tenure.
It doesn't matter how Fisher was playing or Odom. It seems like they could have treated them with a little more respect. Same with Phil, when they hired D' Antoni. Yes, it's just business, but they could have handled it with more class. These were guys that helped them win multiple championships. Maybe it's just a reflection of their front office and how screwed up their decision making is.
Please don't get me wrong. I love the Lakers and have been following them since the early 80s. I'm just disappointed in this season. After getting Nash and Howard, which I didn't think was possible, my expectations were very high. I thought we'd at least be in the Western Conference Finals and have a shot at the Finals. It's hard watching them lose like they are. Just very disappointed.
Maybe we could get Fisher to be an assistant coach/motivator on this team...![]()
No, most people don't really wonder that.
Most people are hysterical though, and want instant solutions to problems that don't demand or require instant solutions. Between the injuries and the changes to the roster there was no chance for this group to grow together as a team, so we're still working on that. But I, at least, see progress.
Does it take hold this year? Probably not...but maybe. Maybe they'll squeak into the playoffs, and if they do -- given the tear they'll have to go on -- they might just be the beast we all hoped they'd be.
But yeah, I know it's just easier to throw a **** fit and complain.
