    He hit .227 last year
He struck out 35.5% of the time (Granderson was at 32.7% for comparison)
    He sucks as a catcher
He wouldn't be a Red Sox
Just to play devils advocate here... Are we gonna dismiss his 2011 season where he hit .320 with 30 HRs? Are you all considering that his fluke season? Not saying it wasn't a fluke, just asking.

I don't think he's a good defensive catcher, but the guy can hit, just not last year apparently. Even though he still hit for power. I have to be honest though, I really don't want another .230 type hitter with 30+ HRs like Grandy. However, if he could hit like .275 with 25 bombs, you guys have to admit he'd be (EDIT: infinitely better) better than Stewart or Cervelli.
I mean come on, we lived with Posada for years. Don't you guys think he was more of an offensive catcher?

If the reason he stopped hitting was the same as Arod......which is a steroid induced hip injury.......then pass. If its a minor injury, sure I'd grab him for a year. Not cause he's so great, but he fills two needs. RH pop.....DH/c combo.

Nope. Nothing changed except more balls fell into play. BABIP of.344. Aside from that almost everything looks the same. Same % of ground balls, fly balls, and line drives. Same % of FBs left the park. Luck. Nothing more.

Bottom line is this is guy is a career back up / part timer......who hit a hot year.....and somehow the Red Sox thought giving him $40 million was smart.

Which,in summary, makes me realize the Red Sox are morons.

And when you thought it couldn't get any better, it does.

    Red Sox considering Nick Johnson.

So does that apply to the likes of Teixeira too? Just not getting luck?
