The Top Seed Out East Would Currently be 5th Out West

    http://espn.go.com/nba/standings

Have the conferences ever been more unbalanced than this year?

It's always been this way. The Western teams are so much more stacked than Eastern teams.

Saw the standings yesterday and thought the same thing. Not to mention how dominant the west has been against the east.

I agree to an extent, but usually the top teams out east put together a ton of wins. I think Miami is in hangover mode and do expect them to win it all, but record wise, the east might have a team under 60 wins be the top seed.

Standings are irrelevant in the NBA. Only season I care about care about in the NBA is the postseason. The league did it to itself when more than half of the teams in the league make the playoffs.

The Heat and Knicks have played less games than the top seeds in the West. If they played the same amount of games, the win totals would be a lot closer than 5.

I'm looking at their win percentage right now. Miami is on pace to win 55-56 games in a weaker conference.

That's pretty insane... Derrick Rose needs to get healthy, it'll at least give the East another juggernaut.

Jason Collins claims he is the first openly gay NBA player despite the fact we witnessed the entire league bend the Lakers over all season.

Exactly. The regular season in the NBA is meaningless which is a shame.

Not trying to start anything, and I'm picking Miami to win it all still, but it's pretty insane that the top teams out east are on pace to get like 55-56 wins.

You really think they'll keep up their winning %? They go on a 5 game win streak and the win% will change a lot. They go on a 5 game losing streak and the win% will change a lot.

I understand your not trying to start anything. I'm just saying that most teams just want to get to the playoffs because its a different ball game then. Take of the top 2-3 teams in both conferences and see who actually gets to the conference finals. Because over the years standings haven't proven much but usually at least 1 of the top 3 make it to the conference
