    now on to the playoffs!!!!

Emmitt won three super bowls in his first six years and played in 13 playoff games while AP has only played in four playoff games. Emmitt had 17 TDs compared to AP's 5 TD's, Emmitt had 1217 yards while AP only has 367 yards..

Running backs don't last long AP wont be that exception to the rule with linebackers getting bigger and faster, QB's throwing more, having a bad O line, playing in Minnesota with snow which can cause injury, teams running a two back system, AP fumbling all the time. Its not happening

    GUYS ITS NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!!!!
    You missed the important number.
    AP- 5.0 ypc
    Emmitt- 4.2 ypc

Peterson has averaged around 1500 yards per year. At that pace he would have to play 7 more seasons. 34 years old in ancient for a RB especially one that plays like he does.

I'm a Packers fan and Gators fan but I hate how Smith has the record over Sweetness and Barry. I like AD so much better even though he kills my packers, but he is so much better of a running back then Smith ever was. From day one Smith had a fantastic line, qb, and wr corps to work with. I can't wait until the record is broken.

AP will own every single important rushing record known to the sport when its all said and done....Good luck saying he wont...He almost broke one of them in under a year of practically getting his leg ripped off.

Lets not kid ourselves too much...Aikman was the greatest game manager in history. It's not like Aikman was Elway.

Which is why if he can average well over 1500 for the next couple of years he could do it. He's gonna slow down, but if he squeezes out a few more dominant years he won't have to be dominant in his 30s.

Don't use ponder as a crutch..Barry Sanders truly was a one man team and did just fine. Not to mention he had farve for a few seasons with Sidney rice...only Viking homer think he's the best..Emmitt to this point has DOMINATED AP at almost every statistical state imaginable. This is what's annoying about fans they find the Stupidest stat that means little and make it sound important. Example; strike out per nine innings.. take the names away and just make emmitt player "a" and AP player "B" and just show the awards and stats EVERYBODY will be picking player A emmitt Smith's stats anybody who's says diff is a homer end of story..stats never lie

Adrian Peterson's career YPC is 5.0
Emmitt Smith went over 4.7 in a season just twice in his whole career.
From the time he was 27 he never once went over 4.2 ypc usually dipping below 4 yards a clip.

I'm sorry, but he can't stack up to AP. His yards per carry are just too low. Smith's career ypc is 4.16

Emmit wasn't the type to go for 20+ yard carries, he wasn't very fast
He was clutch, short & strong.

The mark of a great running back is what you can do in the 2nd level. Anybody can shoot through a hole for 3 yards if nobody touches you. How many guys can get into the 2nd level and start abusing world class athletes? That's the separator.

IMO I don't think ypc compared to TD 's and straight yardage but that's just me
