    Roster Predictions?

A lot of rumors out there, who makes the cut?

We now know from what Ruff said, top line will be Vanek, Pommers and Hodgson. 2nd will be Ennis, Stafford and Foligno.

6-spots left for Leino, Ott, Gerbe, McCormick, Ellis, Kaleta Most likely Scott on offense, Grigerenko

Defense even bigger questions - We know the pairings will be Myers-Regehr, Sultzer-Erhoff. Who goes in with Leopold? Brennan is either a Sabre or out of the organazation completely. Weber? Sekera? Pardy (one site says he has the option to go to rochester, then WGR says he doesnt have anymore minor league options with his 2 million cap hit.

Is there going to be a trade? If so, defense is going to be traded for more offense. Then where does that player figure in and who gets the boot? Season starts 10-days. What does everyone think?

Pardy got the boot being waived today. Tarnavsky, Schiestel and Porter were also waived. I really would love to see McNabb up all year. I love his game inside and out. This team has so much depth on the blue line. We should look for moves to come. Anyone outside of Ehrhoff (No one would touch his contract) and Myers really should be considered a lock to stay. Brennan, McNabb, Psysk, Gauthier-Leduc are also getting closer to the show. I love the make up of McNabb and McCabe the most out of the next waive of youngsters. McNabb could easily fit into the top four as early as next season. I do not think Robyn Regehr will be kept. However you never know.

    Future defense:
    Myers - McNabb
    Ehrhoff - Sekera
    McCabe - ______

Yeah, Im a fan of McNabb also, I'd like to see him stick. Sekera was disappointing last year, but he is usually a pretty solid defenseman. Mind you, a lot of Sabres underachieved last year. I would guess that after Myers, Ehroff, Regher and Sulzer, it'll be Sekera and McNabb rounding it out.

My guess is that Ott will replace Gaustad on the 3rd line along with Gerbe and Ellis, followed by Leino, McCormick and Kaleta. Maybe flip Ellis and Leino.

McNabb is not even a consideration in the eyes of Lindy and Darcy. He never had a chance to make the team.

We may go with 8 defenseman, but I hope not. As optimistic as a lot of Sabres fans are, we pretty much have the same team that missed the playoffs 5 out of the past nine years. Yes we got Ott and Scott, but they make our team tough, not champions. Being that we have so much depth on D, lets hope Darcy is brave enough to pull the trigger and make a trade. We need offensive scoring and never replaced the points we lost when trading Roy. And if something happens to Ennis or Hodgson, say hello to Tim Connelly coming back.

I think you have to be realistic in terms of the roster: Steve Ott is going to be on the roster and Leino will be there because of salary.
PSD's Rich Cimini! Telling it like it is, whether you like it or not!!!
